Supporting local charities
Posted 20th December 2017
Here at Coventry and Rugby GP Alliance we are committed to enhancing healthcare services for the benefit of our patient population. With Christmas approaching we wanted to do something more for the local charities who work tirelessly to support vulnerable people and families. This year we decided to make a charitable donation to Coventry and Rugby food banks, which aim to provide their clients with three days' worth of emergency food, along with other support to resolve their crisis. Other services provided include money management advice, support from Citizen's Advice and the clothes bank which provides good quality pre-loved clothes.
Dr Ali Bryce, Executive Chair, visited the regional distribution centre, based in Coventry to present a cheque to Hugh McNeill from the Trussell Trust, who oversee a network of 428 food banks across the country.
Hugh and a team of volunteers were working hard to prepare the pallets of food to be distributed to the local food banks, who are expecting to be very busy as Christmas approaches. Pallets of food will also be distributed to local fire stations. As they are open 24/7 it means no one in crisis should miss out on emergency food.
