The primary care surge service strengthens GP capacities so practices in in Coventry and Warwickshire can continue to deliver services during GP workforce shortages. Running Mondays to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, GP surge provides up to six remote GP sessions a day.
Referral criteria
Our service team behind the primary care surge are notified when urgent support for practices is needed. This happens when unexpected workforce challenges due to illness or annual leave arise.
Referral process
If a practice needs support, an email address for contact can be found below, while an outline of their workforce capacity gap will be required. All requests are collated and are put through a scoring criterion which helps the service prioritise where across the system resource should be allocated.
